In 1955, we headed the Appalachian Trail (approximately 3,500km), one of America’s three major long trails.
The first woman to thrust over was her 67-year-old grandma.
Emma Gatewood, 67, no hiking experience.
She has domestic violence husband, 11 children and 23 grandchildren, and has no tent or sleeping bag.
I continued walking 20km a day along the trail, wrapped in a blanket.

Ben Montgomery
Born in Oklahoma, USA. Graduated from Arkansas Institute of Technology.
In 2010, when he was a newspaper reporter, he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in local newspaper reports.
He won a Dirt Award and Casey Medal for a series called “For YourOwnGood” on abuse at Florida’s oldest reform schools.
Many of the works are based on detailed interviews and are based on personal reviews.

Born in Tokyo. Graduated from the French Language Department of Sophia University. Former English teacher.
He has loved walking around the nearby mountains since he was a child, and has become a fan of hiking.
In 2018, he thru-hiked the John Muir Trail in America.
